Is the Biltmore Hotel in Florida worth staying at for $380/night?
Biltmore is WAY out of the center, in Coral Gables, and is best suited for older people or a quiet retreat. It does have a beautiful golf course. So if you want an old-fashioned deluxe resort like the one in 'Some Like It Hot", but NOT near the beach (though there is a huge swimming pool), then the Biltmore is fine and a real experience.
But if you want to be in the swing of things, the Delano is a far better bet in this price-range, with it's on-the-beach location and Phillipe Starck decor. Awfully trendy, though -- party atmosphere in the lobby sometimes, and overrun by the hip-hop crowd if you go on Memorial Day weekend. Also very worth considering IS the South Beach Marriott which is beautifully situated at the best end of the beach ("South of Fifth"), and where all the rooms have balconies overlooking the sea, unlike the Delano which only has a few. Not really super luxurious, though -- but much better than you probably expect, and the location is unbeatable, with A-list restaurants and clubs within walking distance. Also fabulous and noteworthy is "The Tides", which has elegance and style, and the beach across the quiet end of Ocean Drive where it's located.
Check them all out on line and have a great time! Don't miss the South Florida Art Center on Lincoln Road.
